The song touches on the perception of masculinity in society; that expectant voice implanted into our psyche from a young age, being told how being a man should be, and that being feminine in a male vessel is bad.

This is an attitude that still much of our society has, and it’s actually very demeaning to women and other genders. Be who you want to be. Social expectations in gender are counterproductive. We are called Pink Mirrors for a reason, and that reason is to f-off those who think it's bad to be different to other people’s expectations.

In the chorus “Do you understand how to be a man?” Is that voice/expectation, and “can you just let go” is me saying that these expectations are not relevant in our day and age. I feel like the same people who boast about their freedom of speech are the same people who confine themselves and their view of others to stereotypes. Check yourself.
